About TestSpeed.app
TestSpeed.app is a free internet speed test that starts in a click and explains your result in plain words. It is made by Zero Byte BD, a small software company in Bangladesh.
The idea
Why we built it
Most speed tests show one big number and leave you guessing what it means. We wanted a test that is just as fast, but also tells you what your connection is good for, whether it lags when it's busy, and whether you're getting the speed you pay for.
We already make network tools for Windows, such as Net Speed Meter. TestSpeed.app is the browser version of that idea: anyone can check a connection on a phone, laptop or tablet with nothing to install.
Honest by design
What makes it different
-
Honest numbers
Every result names the server that measured it, and says when we fell back to another one. We never claim things we don't measure — we don't report packet loss, so we don't show it.
-
Open measurements
By default the test runs on M-Lab, an open measurement platform that publishes results as open data for research. Our own server in Singapore is the fallback, and you can choose it in settings.
-
No sign-up
There is no account to create. Your recent results stay in your browser, and we never store your IP address.
-
More than speed
Ping, jitter and an A–F bufferbloat grade show how your connection behaves when it's busy — the part that makes calls stutter and games lag.
-
Explained
Every page tells you how to read the result and what to do next, and our guides cover fixes for slow Wi-Fi, lag and dropouts.
-
Ads that wait
The site is free and paid for by a small number of ads. They load only after your test has finished, so they never slow the measurement down.
